Colchester Oyster Fishery

Colchester Oyster Fishery logoColchester Oyster Fishery is located on Mersea island, 8 miles south of Colchester town. It is one of the UK leading suppliers of fresh shellfish.

They sell two type of oysters, Native and Rock oysters. All of the oysters are cleaned and purged for at least 42 hours in the fisheries purification system, where they receive a constant stream of fresh sea water passed through a UV filter.
Native oysters have a creamy flesh with a distinctive fresh sea flavour and firm texture. The rock oysters have a cultivate rich, subtley nutty and fresh sea flavour from the mineral and plankton rich sea beds.

The fishery also specialises in high quality fresh, sweet and meaty lobster and crab with beautifully sweet and ample white meat and firm, flavoursome brown meat.

The ice cream are made from the finest goats milk and goats double cream, in small, carefully controlled batches on the farm. There are 36 flavours to choose from, and without the use of artificial colours, additivies or preservatives.

The goats milk ice cream is lower in fat, cholesterol and lactose, as well as being easier to digest than cow milk ice cream. The taste are silky smooth, indulgently creamy and sumptuously moreish.

Little Mountains Farm are owned by the Mann family in Great Totham, Maldon since 1952.
At Little Mountains, they grow width range of produce, from soft fruits, cereals to new potatoes and keeping livestock. Some of the cereals they grow go to feeding the livestock. All this produce are sold on the farm.

The turkeys are breed and rear in the farm, they are kept in airy pole barns with plenty of fresh straw and protected from adverse weather conditions.

At Lathcoats, they have a large stocks of fresh, locally produced, seasonal food and drink.

The large selection from freshly baked bread and rolls, free range eggs, excellent locally farmed meat, fruit and vegetables, freshly cooked pies and pastries, smoked and fresh fish, the farms own pressed freshly apple juices, and whole range of dried, frozen and preserved produce.


In the summer months of June to August you can pick your own fresh soft fruits on the farm, from raspberries, strawberries, plums to cherries, blackcurrants and redcurrants.
Children will also love to visit the farms menagerie of animals.

The Wicks Manor farm is a pig farming business in Tolleshunt Major, Maldon. Their animals have lived a stress free existence, strict regulations of Fram Assured British Meat.
Their meat are full flavoured, fine textured succulent cuts of meat that cook and taste well, which has been nationally recognised and awarded in 2008.Meats












Amongst their products are bacons that are smoked with a blend of oak and beech woodchips and dry-cured by hand with a blend of curing salts and Demerara sugar. Sausages that have no added fat, made with hand-boned shoulder filled into natural skins. Also try out succulent hams and gammons that are full flavoured.
